An example of a teaching activity
Proper handwashing to reduce
the spread of germs (suggested age level: kindergarten through third grade)
-
Place a small amount of vegetable oil on students'
hands and sprinkle cinamon on their palms to represent germs.
-
When the teacher asks the students to wash their
hands with cold water only, they will notice that the "germs" remain on
their hands.
-
The teacher should instruct the students to use warm
soapy water and the students will see the "germs" wash away.
