  • The assignments will be graded as follows:
                • assignments 1, 3, 5

                • if the first letter of last name is A-L, Dr. Maney will grade your assignment; Wendy will grade your assignment if the first letter of your last name is M-Z.
                • assignments 2 and 4

                • if the first letter of last name is M-Z, Dr. Maney will grade your assignment; Wendy will grade your assignment if the first letter of your last name is A-L.
Lecture Notes:

Evaluating students

  • Observation
        • Observing students throughout each activity.
        • Observing students' food choices at lunch time.  Is the student consuming a healthy diet?
        • Observation of students' use or nonuse of tobacco, alcohol, and other drugs.  Does student come to class smelling of smoke?
  • Health Behavior Contracts
        • Focus is not on mastery of skill, but it is focused on the effort to master skill.
        • Students could keep journals to self manage stress, food consumption, cigarette smoking.
        • Affective domain.
  • Pariticipation~cooperative activities
        • Communication skills:
                • How well do students communicate their feelings about a health related activity?
        • Peer Resistance:
                • Role play.  Have students practice a life skill.
        • Decision Making:
                • Dramatization activities.
  • Testing
        • Most relied upon evaluation of students in school setting.
        • Includes worksheets, true/false exams, multiple choice exams, essay exams, etc.
        • Cognitive oriented.
  • Portfolio Assessment
        • Helps children realize what they have accomplished in the year.
