Announcements:

  • Two spots were added to section 001 for those who may be interested in trying to add this class.  Contact Dina in the Art History Department office to add the class.
  • The recitation sections meet in 234 Arts Building.  This week in section we will discuss terminology.
  • The first lecture will be held on Wednesday January 13th.

  • The syllabus was handed out
  • There is a web site to accompany the class: http://www.courses.psu.edu/art_h/art_h112_cbl6. It should be up in a few days.
  • There are two required texts:  H.W. Janson History of Art fifth edition revised Vol. II (New York: Prentice-Hall 1995) and James Smith Pierce From Abacus to Zeus: A Handbook of Art History (Upper Saddle River: Prentice-Hall 1998).
  • There will be two mid-terms (30% each) and one final exam (35%).  The remaining 5% of the final grade is based on attendance and participation in section.  The exam dates are as follows:
      • First Mid-term:  February 17th  (during class)
      • Second Mid-term:  March 31st  (during class)
      • Final exam:  Friday May 7th (2:30p.m.-4:20p.m.)
