- "sweet sacrifice" 500 Natives and 2 Englishmen killed - Pequot resisted the settlement of Connecticut - Scorched earth policy - "600 heathen souls to hell"
- Overcome in a battle in 1812 - Opened up the west to Europeans - 20 soldiers for every Native corpse taking war trophies ~> filleted Tecumseh's body so every soldier could have a war trophy
~ Some of the most brutal fighting ~ Natives to Oklahoma ~ 1813 - 14 Alabama opens up the Southwest ~ 1837 - 40 Cherokee's go to Supreme Court ~ 1841 Records later reveal bribery, forgery, etc. ~ Jackson - Removal good for both America and the Natives - Get them away from America to have their own freedom - Prolong existence - progress = good - Yeomen ideology compared to Natives - Children of the forest ~> protected
