  • Choose one question and answer completely
Exam Criteria
  • Analyze rather than summarize
  • Should be unified, guided generalization
  • Give a clear claim with concrete examples
  • Use examples from class discussions and readings
  • Should be a generalization addressing the question asked
  • Examples chosen from readings should be used to illustrate generalization, do not summarize
  • Follow directions on whether the question asked to "define" or "compare and contrast"
  • Clearly organize and express your point
  • Watch out for the "canned" and "information dump" essay
  • Stipulate definitions
